  • Hi, Why? (this thing) Sincerely, 3ICE (talk) 08:43, June 10, 2017 (UTC)

    • Three times repeated "Idols", two of which are links to the same page:

      [...] effects purchasable with

      1. <a href="/wiki/Idols" title="Idols">idols</a>
      2. (<a href="/wiki/Idols" title="Idols"><img src="Idolcutout.png"></a>
      3. Idols).

      [...]

I made it more sensible, repeating the "idols" text only once:

      1. <a href="/wiki/Idols" title="Idols">idols</a>
      2. (<a href="/wiki/Idols"><img src="Idolcutout.png"></a>).

But you changed it back. Why?

Ultimately we shouldn't even repeat the same Idols page link twice. 3ICE (talk) 08:52, June 10, 2017 (UTC)

    • The simple answer is that it looked better and is much clearer that way.

[[Idols]] link is clearly a link to click upon where as {{Idols}} does link you to the idol page, but is unclear b/c the link is in the image. It is important to have a visual representation of the idol there and a visual link so thus there is two links. Why not make the text part of the template the one with the visible link? The template is on several pages were the addition of so many visible links to one page would be unsightly.

  • Small favor / request, I can't see (or remember) how to rename an image from the Edit screen, so I uploaded the images again for Polly and Danni with the space instead of the hyphen (the strikethrough threw me off). Could you please remove the hyphenated images? Thank you!

  • Hey Amanda!

Should I create a page for them already (and fill with pretty much the half of the whole data) as a placeholder for a future editing when we get the whole picture?

    • Hi T!gRa!

CNE has expressed their preference to not see any unreleased content on the wikia so it is frowned upon to post any unreleased content. See Thread:18193

Tbh any unreleased content will end up being deleted or edited out. Just b/c it's in the data file now doesn't mean it will still be accurate upon release.

Now if you wanted to gather the data on your PC or a google doc... that would be perfectly fine. Then one could just copy/paste when they are released. Just double check the info is still accurate before posting. :)

  • Hello, I noticed you were doing some cleanup on the stuff I posted recently, thanks. I believe I see the preferred system now, though I created a duplicate without thinking. http://crusaders-of-the-lost-idols.wikia.com/wiki/Eternally_Locked_Soul_Gem_of_the_Righteous_Hero - the correct page now has "(Legendary)" at the end, but this is a duplicate. Can you please delete it? I'll try to be less clumsy in the future.  :) CREED

    • There is a substitutable template for setting up a new Crusaders page.Template:Crusader.

Also, you can make a Fake Tony page as a user subpage. Just click on create new page and enter something like:
      User:CreedP/Fake Tony
Feel free to experiment inside of you user subpages :)

You can also enter it in as a link first on your user page like:

      [[User:CreedP/Fake Tony]]
Generally a good idea so you can access the page easily in the future.

Just make sure to refrain from posting any unreleased content, as per CotLI's Developers request.

    • Great, thank you both! Though if Geoff's roboposting sets up the initial template for new Crusaders, then no need to jump ahead, I can just wait until the crusader is unlocked and fill in the blanks. (Note to self: this time, grab those common/uncommon gear images first!)

  • I don't think every legendary item's name should be ending with (Legendary). That naming format is generally reserved for when items share the same name (such as some early epics and golden epics) and should be used only to distinguish those. We can tell the last item is a legendary, it's in order of least rare to most rare.

    • Can you explain why are broken links are a bad thing? I generally view them as a good thing since they are saying that the page still needs to be created.

The textural non-linked name kinda seems too subdued to me. Also, it makes sense as far as the Ls and GLs go b/c it helps with the probability that (Legendary) and (Golden Legendary) is added to the titles, and saves it from having to be renamed later.

    • No new thing we disagree XD

I think it looks "tidier", the broken links kinda catch your attention while you are probably looking for something else.

It's ok in most cases as usually when creating item pages the probability that the item page is created soon is pretty high.

  • Hi^^

with all the information on crafting actually getting released, I was thinking on updating templates to include legendary gear. (I don't mean actually adding the item data to the wiki, just preparing the templates.)

First thing I just did right now is the Template:Rarity Text. What do you think of the colors?

Currently looking at the Template:ItemT and brainstorming/checking whether the new effects will require new templates (or new parameters) in the line of Template:IncDPS...

    Cheers

    • If I get this right on first sight, you changed the item infobox to allow for different itempages for each level.

I was actually thinking, since the name of the item doesnt change, instead of going "Super Stretchy Suspenders of Stylish Boggining (Level 1)" "Super Stretchy Suspenders of Stylish Boggining (Level 2)" "Super Stretchy Suspenders of Stylish Boggining (Level 3)" "Super Stretchy Suspenders of Stylish Boggining (Level 4)" and end up with basically an endless amount of pages that need creation, go with "Super Stretchy Suspenders of Stylish Boggining", but have a gallery as image, if several images are uploaded (I think this is possible on default) and have several lines of effect, eg.

Effect: Increase Critical Click Chance by 3%*2n-1  or  Effect: Increase Critical Click Chance by x

      Level 1: 3%

      Level 2: 6%

      Level 3: 12%

      Level 4: 24%

      Level 5: 48%

Level n: 3%*2n-1 (only for the "by x" version)

    • hmm, that sounds like a rather confusing page. I'd have to see an example though before I could make an informed opinion.

  • Hi,

I was under the impression that you'd be working on the APoD page. Therefor I went with doing other stuff. But now I'm done with all other planned mayor updates.

Will you put on a APoD page soon? Would you put up your current draft on some sandbox/draft page?

    Cheers and enjoy the holidays^^

    • Hi and I hope you are having a merry holidays season.

I've been busy the last couple days swearing at RL chrismas cookies and general holiday mayhem. I have not had much time to even play CotLI the last couple weeks. Luckily things are winding down now.

I'll see about starting on APoDs page tonight. :)

    • Hi,

I refused to make cookies for christmas this year. Got 'nough to do right now.

...I don't know, just wanted to clarify that my main intention was to not have two people work on the same stuff. If you're too busy, I can also just put up a page.

      Otherwise thanks^^

  • Hi Amanda,

Would you like to give some admin help?  I'd like to upgrade you to admin: given that I'm somewhat incapacitated at the moment I'm sure you'd be fine. :)

    • Hi Geoff,

I already replied to you on your wall but I'll reply here too. Here's what I said:

I wouldn't mind being an Admin. But I'm afraid my span of wiki knowledge is still not that great, since I spend almost all of my wiki time on event pages and walkthroughs. I'm sure I could perform the basic functions easily and I do know how to use google. :)

And on the note of the actual topic of this thread. As of the Christmas Event there will be 2 more crusaders and when Princess' Pool Party rolls around there will be no where for the new crusaders to go. Do you object to ExtendedNavigation? or is it just that "extra care" needs to be taken?

I admit I'm not always elegant in my execution, but the results are good.

Which is just a long way of saying yes. ;)

  • Hi Amanda,

I've been tidying up a load of 'droppings' from page renames over the last day or so, in some cases there were chains of four or even five redirects. Rename should be used sparingly because it can cause problems with the wiki code if there is a chain—you sometimes end up with a blank page if you pick up one of the earlier links on the chain—so it's always a good idea to plan out your article names in advance so that you don't need a rename any time other than a typo.

I know it's a learning process, but if I don't mention it now you might not realise how much extra work it can incur.  I've had to redo all links in the {{walkthroughs}} template to 'aim' it at the final names as well as identifying the dangling links to delete.

You can find a list of deletions I have made on this 'special' page.

    • Ok, I am thouroughly confused as to why Wikia treats uppercase and lowercase as separate names. I guess I have to be a little more careful about that from now on.

    • It's the MediaWiki software that does that: it ignore the case of the first letter, but expects the rest to be correct.  So you can get away with {{formation layout}} but not {t|FORMATION LAYOUT}}.

It's all down to historical reasons that it works this way, but there are cases where, on Wikipedia, you get the same word in different cases doing different things... I've tried to avoid that generally on here.

As an example, on Wikipedia, {{Today}} references the US Today TV programme and {{TODAY}} returns today's date (19 August 2017)—you need to use Subst: to fix it to the date you use it or else it recalculates each time the cached version of the page expires; so I have kept the capitals version for today's date for anyone that is used to the Wikipedia version.

  • Hi Amanda,

Your Walkthrough Blank is really a template rather than an article; and as such really should be in the Template: namespace. The main project namespace should be for articles only.

Let me know if you'd like me to shift it for you; it isn't possible to do a 'rename' from Project: to Template:, so you have to copy it and then delete the contents.

    • Great! As you can tell, I've got myself bogged down in other things right now, so other than putting some item pages together for images that have been left in comments I've not got around to sorting out anything else.  It's still on the to-do list though. ;)
